Our morning was relaxed as members worked on projects, chatted, and spent time in the library. Brenda and Betty demonstrated the "hot dog" pillowcase method for our new members and we enjoyed refreshments faithfully organized by our refreshment committee.
Our first guild meeting for 2017-2018 took place on a beautiful September morning. Lovely little quilted pumpkin centrepieces decorated each table. The room soon filled with happy chatter as members and visitors signed in. Members received their new membership cards and everyone chose a quilt block piece and set about finding others in the same colour grouping. Then each group settled in at tables set for nine and assembled their pieces into a quilt block. With a facilitator at each table, the group got to know one another by sharing some of their quilting journey as well as a project that they were working on or had completed. Members also filled in a short survey and played a fun match-up game. People sitting in the stickered chair at each table went home with the centrepiece.
Lastly, Ellen James explained the “Fold, Snip, Rip, Pass, Drop and Give” technique and seven volunteers demonstrated. The business meeting followed our break time, and ended with a fun “Name that Block” game. Barbara Cowlan was the lucky winner of the prize. Our time together ended with our ever popular Show and Share. An exciting start to our new guild year! Some photos below: |
