Members engaged in many of their usual activities on our May Let's Quilt Day, visiting with one another, pinning quilts, and spending time in the library. Here we see one of our members appreciating the machine quilting that was done on her quilt.  She has taken it home to bind it and we will probably soon get to admire the finished product.

Jim Wilford - what a charming, prolific, talented and diverse quilter! His quilting journey began in 1991 when he made 100 sets of placemats for a shop in Kingsville. Having been an art teacher and an avid bridge player, he brings artistry, intelligence and precision to his work.
Log cabin is one of Jim’s favourites, and he particularly enjoys working on them on his treadle machine at his cottage in the summer where there is no electricity.
Hand and machine piecing, quilting and appliqué appear in Jim’s quilts and he still takes workshops but never does things exactly as instructed.
Jim is a Canadian stamp collector and a stamp was the inspiration for the first piece in this series of photos, with the horse modified into a kicking posture.
Art quilts are part of his collection too.
Colour gradations are skilfully done in the Ribbon workshop that Jim has taught.
Each tiny fused rectangle represents a brush stroke.
Black, white and gray is a favourite colour combination.
The last photo, “Portal” is comprised of 7000 5/8” squares and some hand-dyed fabrics.

In the meeting, following Jim’s wonderful presentation, we were reminded that it is time to renew memberships and our year-end social is next month.

Another great show and share of our members creations.

Here is a little heartwarmer about the first quilt.
The blocks made by Connie Jefferess were purchased at our annual auction.  Our member who is making it into a quilt is also gathering more information about the blocks and Connie Jefferess. Connie Jefferess was a long standing member of the Canadian Embroiderers' Guild, London prior to her death earlier this year.
